A unique sort Yun Ding Jin Ya, which translates as Purple Sprouts from Clowdy Peaks, is one of the most valuable sorts from Yunnan province and belongs to a category of high mountainous purple tea, first time it was mentioned already in The Classic of Tea by Lu Yu (Tang epoch 618-907). Cultivation of tea plants with purple leaves, which are grown in the gardens on purpose – is a true rarity. The main representative of Chinese purple tea is in Yunnan province is Zi Juan breed (Purple elegance), which got its name due to its special color features. The plant is so rare, that to protect it a serious legal base was created in China. Regions where large leaves breeds of tea plant are cultivated are ideal for purple tea growing. Such tea grows in ecologically clean high mountainous plantations on the altitude from 1000 to 2000 meter above sea level.
