Oolong tea : Orchid from Northern Mountains

Orchid from Northern Mountains

Sort of Tea - Wu Yi Yan Cha Qi Lan

Origin - Wuyi Mountains

Orchid from Northern Mountains

Wu Yi Yan takes up a special place among traditional cliff teas of Wuyishan. This sort is not exposed to the degree of fermentation typical for classical cliff Wuyishan oolongs, and undergoes more sparing heat treatment. Large dark tea leaves with hues of green and brown have the appearance of curved wound leaves resembling orchid petals.

The Orchid of the Northern Mountains is distinguished for its aroma. In the tea’s golden-orange infusion with deep tangerine hues, tender tinges of delicate floral develop into a surge of sweet fragrance reminiscent of orchid and a faint hint of flame-kissed wood. The tea’s strikingly deep aroma with its long-lasting richness is complemented by piercing vividness of flavor, astringent with a slightly sweet aftertaste and a touch of gentle sourness.
