Dian Hong Yi Ya Yi Ye is produced in Yunnan Province, the cradle of the ancient Chinese culture, and is a representative of one of the rarest and best-rated Dian Hong. The tea is born on mountain slopes amidst the flowing haze of fogs and clouds, surrounded by pure mountain streams. The raw material for this sort includes flushes of the large-leaved tea tree variety. Only the youngest fleshy buds and a single leaf are used. The stages of processing include withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying. The pointed tea buds which look like small needles are covered with dainty little hairs. This succulent palette is effectively complemented by rather dark-purples and browns of its leaves. The tea yields a deep-yellow infusion with a rich aroma combining lemony notes and freshness with a slight tinge of softwood.
